Our Profile

The Women and Child Watch Initiatives (WOCWI) is a non-governmental, non-religious, non-political and non-profit-making organization that has a burden for redressing the several national problems being created through the inadequacies that surround the free-will existence of the woman and child.

Made up of respected professionals of both sexes, WOCWI’s self-assigned role is to reduce the suffering of women and children in our society, provide succor by way of feeding and shelter  while at same time looking for avenues through which their rights and self esteem will not only be safe-guarded, but constantly guaranteed.

Our specific objectives include the following:

To provide legal aid to persons living with HIV/AIDS, widows, orphans and exploited children (violation of child right laws)

  • To organize Seminars and Workshops on widowhood, orphans, HIV/AIDS and Child Rights.
  • To provide IEC (Information, Education, Communication) technical advice and strategic planning for widows and orphans.
  • To carry out research on gender and children issues.
  • To provide targeted intervention on these issues as the need arises.
  • To influence government policy formulation on all of the above

Core Activities

  • Legal: protection and defense of the rights of women and children
  • Health: free eye treatment and surgery foradult & children-, advocacy on prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS)
  • Education: Spelling Bee Competitions among Secondary Schools in Kwara State
